Addresscloud was created in 2015 by our CEO Mark Varley when he was working for RSA. Mark was frustrated with the existing geocoding software which was hard to manage and did not perform well with the challenging addresses that insurers have to process. Mark envisaged a fully managed cloud-first solution, using the latest search software and high quality data which would cope with the complex demands of insurers, and so Addresscloud was born.
Addresscloud has evolved into a full suite of services providing geographic insight to help underwriters make better decisions. Our APIs are built on serverless cloud technology which allows us to scale to the demands of the biggest insurers on the planet. We have built up a team of experts from multiple disciplines who all share a passion for solving complex problems and delighting our customers. Our solutions have won prestigious awards and we are recognised as one of the Top 100 Best Places to work in the UK technology sector.

2016
Addresscloud Match API extends to Ireland
The Addresscloud Match API is rolled out across the RSA business and volumes increase to 10 million transactions a month. Match rates are significantly improved by training with real world data. Coverage is extended to Ireland supporting the Eircode and Pointer datasets. Mark presents at the FOSS4G open geospatial conference in Bonn, Germany and reunites with Tomas Holderness, our CTO, having met in Seoul in 2015.
2017
Addresscloud Intelligence API is created
The Addresscloud Intelligence API is created to provide rooftop perils risk assessments at scale using the latest cloud technology from AWS. Addresscloud partner with JBA, the market leading provider of flood maps for insurers. Addresscloud combine JBA data with open source government datasets to provide flood risk scores. Mark and Tomas work together on a project for MIT to support flood disaster response.
2018
Addresscloud Maps goes live with Brit
Addresscloud meet Brit, a leading speciality insurer who are looking for a new tool to visualise geographic risk for UK and US property. Addresscloud are selected and a new visualisation tool - Maps - is built and rapidly deployed to over 400 users, providing flood, subsidence, crime and wildfire assessments. Tomas Holderness joins Addresscloud as Chief Technology Officer.
2019
Addresscloud goes Serverless
Tomas and Mark envisage a new way of building geospatial cloud services and embark on re-architecting the Addresscloud platform to become 100% serverless. This new architecture provides Addresscloud with the ability to scale to any volume of transactions without provisioning new hardware. C-Quence, Blue Insurance, One Click Cover and Riverford Organic Farmers select the Addresscloud platform.
2020
Property Intelligence Launches
Alun Jones joins Addresscloud as Chief Commercial Officer, bringing more than 20 years' experience in insurance and geographic data. Alun and Mark work together to create a new property intelligence offering combining high quality datasets with a unique geospatial algorithm for “filling the gaps”. New customers sign up including L&G, Inperio, Unicorn, Protector and leading surveyor Countrywide.
2021
Compare the Market and Flood Re
Compare the Market select Addresscloud to pre-fill home insurance quotations, a unique solution blending historic quote data with high quality property listings and survey data. Addresscloud are selected by Flood Re to build the new market-facing Property Data Hub service. Simon de la Hoyde joins as Sales Director and Mike West and Ilaria Callegari join the growing engineering team.
2022
Addresscloud does the Double!
The new Flood Re Property Data Hub goes live in April 2022 and is a roaring success. Matt Travis joins the engineering team and Addresscloud organise the FOSS4G UK conference in Leeds. Addressloud are crowned Insurance Partner of the Year at the British Insurance Awards in July for our work with Compare the Market and go on to win gold for Excellence in Technology at the Insurance Times Awards in December!
2023
Addresscloud goes global with Risk
Having established success in the UK/I market, the Addresscloud platform is extended to work in France with a new geocoding and intelligence capability. Addresscloud Risk, a new solution for tackling exposure management at pre-bind, post-bind and post-event launches in September. John Powell and Lucy Oxer join the Addresscloud team and we successfully digitise fire blocks for the top 500 cities on the planet.
